Reagan acts for clients in a wide range of family law matters, both in a negotiation and litigation context.

While Reagan will always aim to resolve matters without the need for litigation, she has significant experience acting for clients in defended hearings if your matter needs to proceed to court. She will work with you to decide the best option to resolve your family law matter.

Reagan’s services include:

    • Parenting disputes about a child’s day to day care and contact arrangements

    • Applications to relocate a child, both within New Zealand or internationally

    • Obtaining orders preventing the removal of children from New Zealand

    • Guardianship applications including matters such as a child’s place of residence, education, name, religion, sex, or medical treatment

    • Obtaining Protection Orders (and Occupancy, Tenancy, or Ancillary Furniture Orders) for applicants in family violence proceedings, including urgent applications where appropriate 

    • Defending Protection Orders becoming final for respondents in family violence proceedings

    • Preparing contracting out agreements during a relationship to ensure the protection of certain property, assets, and debt

    • Preparing relationship property agreements after separation dividing property, assets and debt

    • Providing independent legal advice on contracting out agreements and relationship property agreements prepared by other lawyers

    • Obtaining dissolution of marriage orders (divorce)   

    • Acting for parents in proceedings under the Oranga Tamariki Act, advocating for their rights while prioritising the wellbeing and safety of the children

    • Acting for caregivers obtaining ‘permanency’ of children in their care, formerly known as Home for Life

    • Acting for clients either seeking or defending the making of paternity orders or declarations of paternity
